Demonstrate your faith
to me without works,
and I will demonstrate
my faith to you from my works.
James 2:18
Just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. - James 2:26
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it? So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Indeed someone might say, “You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.
You believe that God is one. You do well. Even the demons believe that and tremble. Do you want proof, you ignoramus, that faith without works is useless?
Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by the works. Thus the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.
See how a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. For just as a body without a spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. James 2:14-26
Faith needs Positive Action
Faith in this sense, equals belief and certainty that you can achieve your goal. This kind of belief and faith strengthen the motivation to act and do things, and helps you maintain the positive attitude necessary for success.
Faith is important, but alone it is not enough for success. You also need willpower, discipline and persistence. You also need to take positive action to show your faith. Often, after reading a book, or attending a workshop about the powers of the mind or the law of attraction, people get excited about the potential within them. They feel thrilled, and believe that they can change their life. However, too often, nothing happens, because interest wanes and so does belief and faith.
In order to succeed one has to keep alive the flame of desire, ambition and faith in oneself and in the ability to turn thoughts into reality, but this is something few people do. Faith, feelings, desire and positive thinking are essential for achieving success, but so also positive action, persistence, willpower and self-discipline. Attitude is important, but so also actions. You should not just wait passively for things to happen. by Remez Sasson, successconsciousness.com
Justified through faith in Jesus Christ
A man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ. (Gal 2:16)
Before faith came, we were held in custody under law, confined for the faith that was to be revealed. Consequently, the law was our disciplinarian for Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a disciplinarian. For through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus. (Gal 3:23-26)
We have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified (Gal 2:16).
Now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, though testified to by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. (Rom 3:21-22)
For there is no distinction; all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God. They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as an expiation, through faith, by his Blood, to prove his righteousness because of the forgiveness of sins previously committed, through the forbearance of God—to prove his righteousness in the present time, that he might be righteous and justify the one who has faith in Jesus. (Rom 3:22-26)
What occasion is there then for boasting? It is ruled out. On what principle, that of works? No, rather on the principle of faith. For we consider that a person is justified by faith apart from works of the law. (Rom 3:27-28)
Does God belong to Jews alone? Does he not belong to Gentiles, too? Yes, also to Gentiles, for God is one and will justify the circumcised on the basis of faith and the uncircumcised through faith. (Rom 3:29-30)
Live by faith in the Son of God
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (Gal 2:20).
